What we do:
Sourcing the best tutors
Core has a rigorous selection process focusing on three key areas:
Academic excellence - with strict academic performance requirements, Core has procured a pool of tutors with a median ATAR of 99.90 and several state ranks across both STEM and humanities subjects.
Strong verbal communication skills - all our tutors have debating and/or public speaking experience that ensures they demonstrate high level communication skills and hold a strong capability in explaining subject material and feedback in a clear and concise manner. The overlap between high academic achievers and good teachers can be very narrow, meaning it is often difficult for students to find a tutor who both knows what is required to achieve the highest marks, and is able to effectively explain that theory in practice. With strict selection criteria and quality training, all our tutors are equipped with both of these skills.
Good character - Core promotes a culture of transparency, strong relationships and trust. A good relationship between a student and a tutor both maximises the efficacy of lessons and makes the overall experience more enjoyable for both parties. We search for genuine tutors with high EQ in our hiring process.
2. Consultation and allocation
In a free initial consultation, students and parents can discuss their specific requirements with our founding directors.
In this discussion, we:
Plan a clear strategy to address student objectives
Allocate a tutor that is best suited to the specific requirements of the student
Schedule ongoing lessons at a suitable time for you
3. Teaching Materials and Student Resources
Core has a base of teaching materials, notes, and past exam papers available to all our tutors.
Alongside lessons, Core provides a range of tuition-focused and administrative support, including:
Performance feedback: Tutors provide regular updates and feedback on the progress of students, enabling us to monitor and amend our strategy to address a student’s objectives on an ongoing basis.
Tutor Feedback: We recognise it may be uncomfortable to provide feedback directly to your tutor. Should you have any concerns or feedback - however minor - you can contact us and we’ll make sure it’s addressed promptly.
Scheduling support: Should an unexpected event or illness arise that requires one-off or long-term rescheduling, you can contact us to find a suitable time.
General inquiries: Core is available to assist in any general inquiries you may have.
4. Ongoing Support
5. Tutor training
Core has developed a comprehensive training course that gives tutors the necessary tools to:
Identify specific issues in students’ work
Devise effective structures to remedy those issues
Effectively communicate the information and feedback necessary for a student to improve.
The course is the product of over three thousand hours of experience in both private and class-based tutoring.
